A Wonderful Christmas at Wheatfield Academy

“It’s the most W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L. time of the year”…

But sometimes, I just feel the HOLIDAY BLUES.

During this month, we want each of our students to know that if any feelings come up that make him feel less than W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L., he can be certain he is not alone. He is worthwhile. He is LOVED.

We are making sure each of our students knows he can talk to a staff member or his therapist for specific coping skills that would be helpful during this time to help him find the joy in this holiday season.

Let’s fix our eyes on Emmanuel, God with us, for the true meaning of JOY in this holiday season!

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

It’s natural for people to feel some or all of the emotions below once in a while. We are teaching the young men in our care that is ok. There is hope.

Worried“cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7

Overwhelmed“I cry to you for help with my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2) “My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Numb“May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Discouraged“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Enraged“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, along with every form of malice. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

Restless“There is a time for everything, and a season for everything under the heavens…He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet, no one can fathom what God has done beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3

Frightened“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Unimportant“Now this is what the LORD says – He who created you, he who formed you, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

Lonely“Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

Let’s fix our eyes on the true reason for the season!
Jesus... Emanuel, God with us.
