Clinical Director, Joy Clifton, MS LMHC, talks about why she counts it a privilege to work with the young men at Wheatfield Academy.

Hi, my name is Joy Clifton. I’m a licensed mental health counselor and the Clinical Director here at Wheatfield Academy. I count it as such an honor and a privilege to get to work with teenagers.

They are really, in this special season of their life. Where they’re still a child, and they often have childlike emotions. But they’re also emerging adults. They’re wanting freedom. They’re wanting more independence. But sometimes they lack the skills needed to really grow and develop.

Additionally, because they’re still kind of childlike, they’re also unfortunately sometimes the recipient of trauma and abuse and situations that are kind of dealt to them instead of their choosing. So I really count it an honor and a privilege to get to journey with adolescents particularly in this particular season of their life because there’s still time that through healing, through restoration, through understanding through tools that they can gain through counseling, they can really reset the trajectory of their life towards God’s calling, God’s purpose for them. So, it’s really exciting for them to be able to grow and develop and learn towards those goals, those futures that they want for their life – and that really what God wants for their life.

If that’s something that you’re interested in for your child, for your student, contact us here at Wheatfield Academy. We’d love to work with you. We’d love to see what we have to offer, and what you all need, and see if it’s a great fit.
